strange plating?

    What is going on here?

    Is this plating related or some kind of other damage?

    Plating?

    As far as I know, the Roosevelt dimes are NOT plated or "electro-plated" so this is some other type of damage.

    Interesting, thanks for the input. I have come across a few of these and curiosity finally got the best of me. I figured damage, just didn't know what kind.
