1820 Bust Half - What do you see?

    I saw this coin pop up as a 24 hour eBay auction. It ended at $3025. Why did I pay that much? (The black gunk came off with acetone, including the dot above the cap and the area behind the eagle's head, which look like hits or damage).

    No serif E's. Will it grade XF?

    Correct! I think it’s a 35, but I just looked at an XF40 ex: Whitham collection and his looks slightly worse than mine. Who knows what they’ll call it but 35 is a proper grade. I got it in the mail today and sent it off to PCGS already.

    I spoke to him. He had no idea till he saw the price. Then he looked it up and commented that it looked like there was still “meat on the bone” for me, so to speak.
