All I have is some neolithic arrowheads. I'm pretty hesitant to buy artifacts as I don't know how to identify fakes in the same way I kind of can with coins. 211191563_3030727210588048_3811440204943291584_n.jpg

This thing is my first and only personal find. I found it by the river and picked it up because it reminded me of the neolithic pieces I saw at museum.
It seems to be a very thin piece of iron 15x28mm and is highly magnetic.
Please let me know what you think.

I think the magnetism is less interesting than the fact that it's invisible. ;)

Did you mean to attach a photo?

That sort of looks like a piece of slag

I'm clueless, but this is definitely interesting enough that it would be great if someone would weigh in on what it might be.

Could also be a piece of meteorite.

    It may be something modern...
To me it looks man made.

Here's my oldest artifacts - about 200M yr old (Triassic).

    dino-1.jpg

Although I didn't find them myself, these are local finds from the Connecticut river valley. This was a rift valley (think sunken canyon), with a river flowing through with muddy sediment banks on either side, along which the dinos would stroll.

These are both from therapod family (T-Rex body type) dinosaurs - the larger footprint is about hand sized, coming from a dino similar to Coelophysis that would have stood about chest height to a human.

    Coleophysis.jpg

The side view of the piece is interesting in that is shows the structure of the sedimentary layers and the rounded depression from the bottom fleshy parts of the critter's toes as they slightly sank into the mud.

Pre Columbian Jar with Symbolic Birds (really?)

If anyone can help, please do.

    jar2.jpg

It might be the oldest man made thing I own.
I bought it in the early years when eBay started. Late 80's or very early 90's I think.

The C.O.A. doesn't mean very much as I can't find the J.G. Glitters people doing a search anymore.
The C.O.A. states there is a small chip at base.
I don't see much of a chip at all.

What do I really have here?
    . . . Real of Fake?
    Thank you.

Curious to know if the seller attributed it as Pre-Columbian or whether that's your own speculation.

...Well, um, it looks more pre-Columbian than anything else. If you start from that premise, it also looks conspicuously early.
Meanwhile, @TheNickelGuy, your take on the C.O.A. really resonates. An American dealer in medievals --one of the best; now retired from the business-- told me once about people asking for one when they bought a coin. Her response --whether or not she ever actually said this to anyone but me-- was, 'Well, Sure ...what would you like it to say?'
