1956D penny

This was in a roll I received for Christmas. I believe the MM "D" to be doubled. It would be my first doubling on any coin found in circulation for me. What do you say?

Nice find, that's a nice one. Call it a "repunched mint mark." These went on the dies after the dies were hubbed, so they're not die doubling.

As some of the members have stated.. It's not a Doubled Die issue/variety.. Known as a Repunched Mint Mark

Definitely not a doubled die but it is a nice find. It’s a C k K ear, well defined RPM or a repunched mint mark. All mint marks were hand punched at that time.

 

Can you tell me what the letters C k K with the ear means? TIA

 

My cell phone sometimes changes what I type and I don’t catch it. It’s a wheat ear cent with a well defined RPM.
