As ancient coin collectors and students of history, this interesting article appeared in today's Guardian, regarding a Roman fort on the Dutch coast that apparently played a pivotal role in Claudius' invasion of Britain in 43 AD, providing protection to the northern flank of the his invading fleet as it crossed the Channel from Boulogne to Britain.

It is indeed an interesting article. Until I read it, I was unaware that Caligula constructed the fort with an eye to invade and occupy Britain, only to be thwarted by an assassin's blade.

I imagine the site to be devoid of seashells.
