...is my grades to post... ...my grades to post... ...my grades to post. All I want for Christmas is my grades to post, But I'm afraid it won't end that way. Sent in a World submission to NGC this summer; 30 coins, 3 invoices (Economy, Modern, Modern Oversize.) Economy sub had three die varieties. Asked for all three to be shipped back together. Package delivered to NGC on August 31. Invoices scanned in September 28. Was notified that ONE item from my Economy submission was flagged for NCS on December 13. Called Dec 21 and was told that my NCS coin was currently in conservation. At this point all the coins (except the NCS coin) have been graded...and I sincerely doubt they work on Christmas Eve...so at this point I'm expecting to get the news sometime in 2022.
In all seriousness, NGC has been very slow and it seems to only be getting worse each month. The last few years I've submitted some moderns to keep up my sets but I am doubting that I will submit again anytime soon (I'll either search harder for already graded examples or keep certain coins raw).
These TPG's would increase revenue if they would just double up on the initial graders. Collectors are getting annoyed with the long wait. Over on the Sport Card side for PSA it's still 12+ months. Friend of mine has been waiting over a year for a 50 card sub.
Glad I don't submit lots of coins. Some get just about everything graded. One dealer I know had 800+ coins in the TPG pipeline last we spoke.
Lol, I’m glad for ICG (and their Cointalk discount.). I have made 3 submissions and the turnaround has been about 3 weeks (budget submissions) plus I can talk to the folks there. The grades have been tough but fair in my view. I plan on trying ANACS too some day. Of course I’m just a budget collector mostly, not a dealer or high end fellow. Merry Christmas all!
I was thinking about sending ANACS some business, but to be honest I'd rather wait for an ANACS Insider special that relates to the coins I want to send in...but honestly I just don't like their holders. And, just a personal opinion here, but I'd never waste money sending coins to ICG no matter how cheap they are. I'm open to reassessing that every five years or so...but I don't really respect their grading standards, I don't like their holders, and seems like they always sell at steep discounts compared to PCGS/NGC. But if someone else wants to do so, that's their money and it's none of my business what they do with it. As to NGC's current turnaround times, yes, I realize more people are sending material in to get graded, and there have been extenuating circumstances that have also caused delays. That still doesn't mean I believe 4-6 months is an acceptable turnaround time, so my stance (avoiding stepping up on a soapbox) is to whine politely about my current submission (used because I still had account credits) and then to wait until they get their turnaround times back to normal to submit other coins. Yes, that may be a while, I get it. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone else who has replied!
Thanks - although I sincerely doubt I will. NCS coin still has to complete conservation, then go back to the grading room, then imaging and QC…I’m thinking mid-January as best case scenario, so maybe by Valentine’s Day? Haha
Good luck. Been struggling just to get re-holders back. It certainly isnt the 10 working days they have listed.
