Mint State Roman Bronze Coin Here is, what looks to me to be, an Uncirculated 1700 year old Roman bronze coin. Struck for Constantius II (337-361 AD) when he was Caesar under his father, Constantine the Great, it does not appear to have any wear. The obverse is very sharply struck with crisp details on Constantius' bust. On the reverse the eyes on the Roman soldiers pop out at you. The coin has a glossy black patina and smooth surfaces. It is fully-centered with complete legends and mint mark. It's only flaw is a tiny rough spot on the first S of the mint mark. (Diameter: 18 mm. Weight: 2.10 grams) OB: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust, right - FL IVL CONSTANTIVS NOB C REV: Two soldiers holding spears and shields on either side of two military standards - GLORIA EXERCITVS Constantius II
That is a very nice coin with great patina and sharp detail. Very cool @TheNickelGuy . Here is my Constantius II from the Siscia mint. If I might make a suggestion. It is best to post only one or two new threads a day if you want folks to give them the proper attention and have time to read them. Anymore than that will cause new threads to drop off the front page quicker than many here will be able to read them. Glad to see you over here on the “dark side.”
I shall pause now. Thanks, for the tip. Much of this information was provided to me by a couple CCF members sharing their knowledge, I should credit them here. Thank you Finn235 and Paul Bulgerin CCF members. Who also supplied information and raw images which I have re-worked. I wouldn't know anything about them if it were not for their generosity and time taken to help make these more interesting.
I'm glad you've discovered the wonders of LRBs. But please stop commenting on your own threads and bumping them back to the top. Others spend a lot of time on their threads. And you are taking up half of the first page and relegating theirs to page two. You said you would pause and then proceeded to bump all your threads back to the top with your shout outs.
and here mine from Constantinople: Obv: Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right, DN CONSTAN__TIVS PF AVG Rv: FEL TEMP REPARATIO Emperor spearing fallen horseman without helmet; mintmark CONSΔ 2.37 gr, diameter 17.7mm
Sorry for coming off as rude, but you kicking threads to the second page, intentionally or not, might be considered rude. Curtis was nice about it and so was I (though he has more tact than I)... but then you kept going. I was trying to explaining site etiquette. Whether you realize what you did or not doesn't take away from the fact that you were bumping your thread up and other threads off. I'll gladly ignore you posts, if that's what you wish, when you don't drop half a pages worth of LRBs at once. Sheesh. I really am glad that you found how fun ancients are. I love em myself. All the history. All the artistry. And all the humanity. A better approach would have been for you to test the waters before accidently pushing a bunch of year end top 10 posts, that folks have worked hard on and were excited to get feedback on, into obscurity. And as an olive branch, here's some pertinent coins to a few of your threads:
