Dear Colleagues: I am going to post my presentation a little early due to activities involving my family and Valentines Day which I intend to spend with my Wife. It is my hope that this presentation provides a Glimpse into the Life Of Ulysses S. Grant as I tried to give a brief synopsis of the American Legend and President. His Vignettes have been engraved by 2 well known artist, Lorenzo Hatch and John Eissler. In preparation for this I have read several books on Grant and trust me when I say it is not easy to summarize a short synopsis when indulging in this historical giant. I hope you enjoy the Presentation, it was an educational experience putting it together. My Thanks go out to the Author of the Engravers Line a unique source for the artist's and their personal summary.
Beautiful layout and presentation on the life of General Grant/President Grant.A presentation that explained the many careers and talents of a amazing man and his life of accomplishments. Very informative information on the engravers of his vignettes.I have learned something of a truly great man. You have set the bar high on this presentation. Congratulations !
Great job RickieB! Grant is certainly a towering figure to summarize. That 22 Pounds Tobacco Stamp is boss! I really like the nearly "photo-realistic" portrait of a younger looking Grant. Plus that 1914 $50 Fed Res Note is a whopper! I will definitely be going through the Engravers Line to see more on Lorenzo Hatch and John Eissler. Hatch's work in China must be something of a topic in and of itself, especially at that pivotal era in Chinese history, being the end of the Qing (Manchu) dynasty, the last Chinese empire before the ROC.
Super presentation. I too learned a great deal about Grant and his rise to power. The engravings you selected bring life to this "larger than life" hero of a very turbulent and troubled time in our history. Thank you. :thumb:
Really Nice Presentation RickieB! Great looking Vignettes and your synopsis of Grant is very interesting! Thanks for the hard work and sharing with the rest of us! BR ~ D
Very nice and well formatted. One of the images from Photobucket has gotten detached (the tobacco stamp?). I'd love to see it if you could repost.
