I have a few. Neat coins for the cost. Large cent collections can be put together relatively inexpensively in nice grades - with the exception of a couple key dates. I think, if you're looking for early type coins without breaking the bank, Large cents are the way to go.
I collect them as well, but mostly ones that have been counterstamped. I do not have a huge number of them though, perhaps a couple dozen.
Oh yes!! I've been a member of EAC since 1982 and I've collected large cents since 1985. I always liked the die varieties but I started just working on a date set of Draped Bust cents because I knew there was no way I could afford to do all of the varieties. Today I have 241 different varieties of the early date cents (I lack 5 pieces of having all of the darped bust, and 7 of being complete from 1795 - 1814.), about 75 varieties on middle dates with 1816, 17, and 20 almost complete, and 1829 complete. Surprisingly I do not have a complete date set of large cents. I lack about 5 dates, mostly in the 1840's and 1857. I have all of the rare dates
large cents I have 60 different large cents an several duplicates. the conditions are not the best, but they are neat to see them all in the albums. I had a pic but the file was to big to load.
bought this back in 86, was one of my first. Most of my coins are from 1816 to 1836 with a few strays. EAC for about 10 years then dropped out in 1996
I only have two... and the scan isn't the greatest. In fact, the scan is pretty crappy, but you get the idea.
Here's another of the 1794, though this image is crappy too. There's somethng that looks like a tiny hair or scratch by the mouth that isn't actually there.
Also I have an 1804 & 1805 1/2 cent (are these considered large cents?) and an 1834 and 1855 1/2 cent. Rather small collection as I'm more into type collecting than getting every year and variety ever minted. Although all of these are pretty nice and have a chocolate color, it would have been interesting to see them when they were first released.
Large Cents have a small collector base, there just isn't enough coins for collectors to collect. The type of coin I collected simply dried up. It wasn't a high grade either that I collected either, just nice clean, problem free coins
