In my oppinion these coins are the best of what Icelandic numismatics has to offer. Designed by 2 artist on each coin. They are both rare and hard to find in such perfect condition. I was extremly lucky to find these coins about 6 months ago and they will always be in my top 10 collection. History about the coins Under a law on the celebration of the millennium of the Althing in 1930 the government was permitted to issue a set of medals with embossed value. The law stipulated that the medals could be given validity as legal tender by a royal decree. This provision was never carried into effect. Great pieces again and again I had to double take that First one , I though it was some kind of Michale Jackson commemorative.

Your welcome, His work is amazing and the musium is were he lived. And building a house like that at that time was kinda crazy but what I really love is the fact that alot of work after him is in the yard behind the house and it´s always open.
The Krause list number is MS1 Even though the goverment did not sign for this to be legal tender they were used for a while.
Well the story goes that anyone that walked in with these could use them, I think becayse there is so much silver in them and they do have the value inbeded in the rim. It just did not pass the regulation
I just picked this up for 5$. He asked me what I would pay for it on the spot, and I said all I have is a 5$ bill in my wallet, he said deal. Talk about a score! He probably went and got a 5$ crack rock, So I suppose we both got something we wanted out of the deal. I just have no idea what it is actually worth. My picture taking skills are sub par by far, but the example above is just a grade or two/three better than mine. Any thoughts on worth? And on the top of the rim it has lettering engraved "2 kronur".
love the one that looks like a viking shield, will have to keep a look out for that at the next fair i go to.
I've always wanted that 10kr piece ever since I saw an illustration of it when I was a child. Maybe some day I'll get one. The 2kr piece is very nice, too.
