I am going through my wheat pennies and this one is in question. I have a 1946 that is chipped (?) I put it along my others to show the differences. It's the one in the middle. I don't know if it is an error or just damaged.

That looks very much like a clipped planchet error.

    Hi,
Looks very much like a coin struck on an incomplete planchet. Commonly called a "clipped" planchet. Looks genuine worth abot $1.00 or so

It could be a clipped planchet error. If it is,it's not a very big one. They're usually clipped more than that. B12

    Hi,
Actually, the amount of material missing on a planchet can vary greatly. Most though are smaller areas like this coin.
