To me the Canadian pennies are generally worthless. When I managed a C store in Colorado, anytime someone came in with a roll of pennies, it was always short (47,48, whatever), and there would always be a couple of Canadians in there. A few years ago I picked up 10 rolls of pennies (that's all they would give me) and there were 6 or 7 wheats in there, nothing to speak of. But there was one really nice 1932 Canadian George V. So that was all right. This isn't my photo, I can't find my photo:
well i keep em because the bank will not take them back, lol i try and sell em for 10 or 15 cents each at the fl market..their counting. machines kick them back
Yes foreign coins are an issue. There are places that will redeem foreign cash notes, but not coins. Border states always get stuck with Canadian quarters (Maine, Minnesota, etc.). When I visited Maine every bar or restaurant would give you Canadian quarters in change which were then worthless. I thought it was a pretty cheap thing to do.
