Hi everyone, I have recently had a change in heart regarding the 2010 Olympic quarters. I have NEVER been a fan of fresh minted commemorative this and commemorative that. ESPECIALLY stuff from the Canadian mint.
When the Olympic quarters came out I collected the first three or four releases, stock piled the folders, and if a cashier had an abundant amount of fresh quarters I would buy a bunch. Only because I'm a collector and it was habit.
I live in a town where I am the only collector (I know of) and there has been no interest in coins amongst my friends. I have tried explaining just to get some other guys and girls interested. No avail.
I never truly understood the attraction new coin designs have to non collectors. When I set up at shows I always have inventory of new quarters and such, buy I don't have a collection of my own.
Recently I walked up to a group of friends and what do ya know! They were talking about coins. :)
Not only have they started to collect coins from circulation, but they recently gave me a list of colored quarters they all need and they asked if I could get them. So I'm impressed with his much of an impact these have had, and I now have 3 friends that are collecting the quarters. I too am going to start a set and try and do it from circulation.
    I admit defeat.

    Thanks for your input.
I seem to have accepted modern coinage. Wouldn't you agree Art?
