Cool 52...a Pontiac, or...? Can't read/tell from here. We had a 51 Chevy coupe but not a fastback...the side-rear windows were a bit different, was orig beigh/tan...had a three-speed manual w/column-shift, a push-button start (with key turned), orig fender skirts and an orig metal sun visor across the top of the split-front windshield. It was our main car for many years, along with (later) a 57 until 1971.

 

I wish I had the copy of my older brother's Hound Dog on 78. I was 5. He may still have it. I still have my 2 carrying cases of 100 45's. Oldest is "Green Door" by Guy Mitchell (1955 I think). There's Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill"; Elvis's "Love Me Tender" and "Too Much" just to name a few.

We too had a '51 Chevy. I vividly remember shouting "Can I push the button?!!" every time we got in the car.

 

In the early 50s, I used to put coins on the rail road tracks and let the Los Angeles PE (Pacific Electric) Red Line car run over them. I still have those coins, somewhere.


And my favorite car that I had to sell due to financial reasons.

Not my car, but one just like it.

 

Explorer 1 was the first successfully launched US satellite. It launched on January 31, 1958.

 

He was a great entertainer.

Sputnik 10 4 1957. I remember that one

 

1952 Chevrolet Fleetline. This was the last year for GM fastbacks. It has the 3 speed manual, 216 engine, push button starter, split front window and the car was also originally tan but the body/paint/interior was in sad shape so I picked other color from the Chevy catalog. I bought it in '72 and it was my daily driver for several years until it became to risky to leave it out front.
