Hello and welcome to the Fabulous 50's

This is a time warp thread back to the 1950's.
Please post any US coinage from that time period.

With each post try to include a phrase, photo, song, Movie, TV show or even a story ( if your are old enough) from the 1950's

So don't be a " Party Pooper" and post a coin or "you will be cruising for a bruisin". and I may give you a " knuckle sandwich". ;)

    Have fun with it !

The only 50's era coinage that I have at my office resides in this Lucite block.... Though rumor has it that these coins were found under the seat of a certain pink Cadillac in Tupelo Mississippi!....

In the mid 1970s my high school still had greasers. For some weird reason I ate lunch with them every day. On weekends they still had rumbles and would show up on Monday all beat up.

Are you aware that Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis were both on the same stage in the same night? Chuck was scheduled as the last act as he was a larger draw. Jerry wanted to be last. They argued and nothing was changed.

When Jerry went out to perform he played Great Balls of Fire to which half way through the song he pour liquid from his Coke bottle on the piano. The crowd went wild when he set it on fire. Chuck refused to follow that act and Jerry Lee was the last act. It was a great performance and I love both of their music. They were talented men.

I have a vivid memory of my sixth grade friend inviting me to his house to hear Hound Dog on his 45 rpm record player, in 1956, the first time I heard Elvis.

I remember that. Also remember 45,
33 1/3 and 78 records. All of which I still have. CD’s are great but you need the background noise that only a record can give to get those chills. :)
