2004 D nickel counterfeit. Has anyone ever seen?

I saw that thread, but only skipped through it. I guess i need to read the whole thing, sigh. But that's it. Nothing more out there on it.

That is pretty terrible. Looks like he is wearing the mask from @potty dollar 1878 ‘s avatar and a few guys jumped ship on the reverse.

I have to say your'er good. I wouldn't give a Jeff a second look, but one is so bad it might have caught my eye though. Nice find! Patience pays off.

Looks like I see rust on this nickel.

 

These cheap fakes probably cost so little, the maker of them is probably making money by volume. Hardly anyone of the 330,000,000 people in the US would give them a second glance, let alone anyone using US coinage in a foreign country.

 

Counterfeiting a Zincoln would fit better.

Just as a WAG, perhaps some counterfeiter was testing machinery and/or techniques for making counterfeits using a common coin as a test subject.

Did you know I have the entire theme song from "Mr. Ed" memorized? And I will sing it to my family and friends with little to no prompting and to their great embarrassment. It doesn't help that I can't carry a tune in a wheelbarrow.

 

The entire song? I know the first verse up to, the famous Mr. Ed!. That's where it ends though. Pretty impressive.
