I will just say I couldn't believe my eyes.
The luster is the same on both sides, you are getting my best cell phone photos I could do at the coin/gun shop.

    MS details- graffiti
Right on top of the black marker which I’m assuming is on the slab

My guess is a dipped 64.

There really ought to be a law against marking up the field right in front of Liberty. Almost anywhere else on the coin would have been less obtrusive.

Beautiful coin otherwise. As my avatar should indicate, it's a favorite type around here.

PS: actually there is a law against defacing coinage, isn't there..

That's exactly what I said. It is red and blue toned streak of copper (retained strike thru).
The coin is actually a gem in hand absolutely gorgeous until you see the handy man work.

So we have deduced that there is grafitti on the coin, should a coin like this ever be strait graded?

In my opinion...... no. It's a darn shame, too, because that is a stunner. I'd be interested to know what the shop had for a price tag on this one.

This wasn't the only coin they had in the shop that was questionable.
They had a Lynchburg Comem that had major contact/scratches going down the face and on the bust. slightly noticable but not really until you put a loupe to it. Then they were right in your face.
    NGC graded it GEM MS65

Looks like the Playboy Bunny under the black mark on the obverse. Maybe it's my dirty mind, you think. Nice Morgan otherwise.

A beauty in my eyes. If it was dipped, it was professional done and kept it's luster. I see scratches, not graffiti, so I'd guess MS66, but not sure how the TPG graded it.
