From American Numismatic Collectors and Dealers Encouraged to Circulate Collectible Coins Dec. 13-18 During the week of Dec. 13-18, officially dubbed Coins4Christmas, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) and the coin collecting community will spread holiday cheer by circulating collectible coins nationwide. Some coin dealers are even providing a free collectible coin to those that visit their shops on Saturday, Dec. 18, in honor of Free Coin Day. "Coins are history that you can hold in your hand," says ANA Executive Director Kim Kiick. "Coins4Christmas provides coin enthusiasts a chance to share their passion for numismatics with the public." Those interested in participating are encouraged to post on social media using the hashtag #Coins4Christmas. For more information on Free Coin Day, follow @FreeCoinDay on Facebook or visit info.money.org/coins4christmas.
Hmm didn't know that I'm definitely going to the bank tomorrowhaven't done some searching in a few weeks.
I have a roll of wheaties I plan to release into circulation. If one person is inspired to start collecting its worth it.
I've been a member for 40 years and this is the first I'm hearing of it. Like @CoinCorgi I release year round wheaties and partial date Buffs. I've been doing it for years. OT a little, the ANA use to sponsor a coin drop at their conventions. I think 1914D, 1909S VDB and some other semi key coins.
Hey potty, I think you're missing the point of this week of GIVING. It's not supposed to be about coin collectors going out there searching rolls, and change for what's been released by other collectors. It's supposed to be about coin collectors releasing some of their collection into the wild to hopefully inspire someone who's currently not a collector to become a collector. You know, tis the season for spreading joy.
The bank didn't have any coins but we did go to other places and I managed to free these two dateless buffs.
Any suggestions on how I can let these loose into the wild today? I'm thinking of putting them in the coin return slots of the various vending / game machines in the Walmart front entrance area, but I'd welcome any other ideas. I'm looking to minimize the fuss factor / work on my part.
Heading to my credit union now to spread some holiday cheer Depositing about $300 of searched coins with some wheaties, a few silver war nickels in there too...Merry Circulate Collectible Coins!...one and all!!!
I had a pocket full of worn Liberty and Buffalo nickels to spread in town yesterday, but I never made it. It snowed more on the east side of the Divide, than the west side and I hit a big snow drift on the Divide and went off the mountain. Many hours later, I was given a ride home. It was fun watching the tow truck pull it back up. I think it's totaled. At least I walked away without a scratch.
I'd hold onto those lucky coins and find some other ones to give away! Glad you came through without a scratch, Happy Holiday!
The coins all made it through the ordeal, so I'll spend them another time. Now I have to spend my time dealing with insurance companies. Ugh! I hate that, but glad I have insurance to cover it, and another vehicle to drive until I can replace that one. Thanks to those that replied with kind wishes. Santa will reward you, I'm sure. LOL
@Mountain Man glad the ordeal looked worse than it was and you walked away unscathed. Where's Rudolph with his nose so bright when you need him?
