I know that the 1880 cc is considered a common cc thanks to the GSA. I just really like the look of this circulated example. Would you buy this? I do not know what reverse it has. I took this pic through the glass of the display case. Thank you for your time
Nice coin, depends on how bad or soon you want it. I think you could find a better deal. But if you like the coin. After sending this in to be graded I paid about $140 total. Came back Genuine-VF details, cleaned. Some would never probably sent this in to be graded. But I liked the coin.
Obverse shows a really attractive, circulated Morgan dollar. Nice eye appeal. If the reverse is similar and problem-free, and I needed an 1880-CC for my collection, I would make an offer on the coin if I saw it at my local store.
Looking at the pcgs price guide and ebay, I think the price is steep but not totally out of line ( for a nice VF ). Everything is going up in cost these days. Sigh. Maybe the dealer would accept an offer.
Most dealers have a stop price. Can't hurt to ask, it is a nice obverse. It would definitely be to your advantage to see the reverse, pro or con. Good luck!
I have always loved this dark toned look and have put my own collection of raw silver U.S. & British together. I will post them here!
The 80cc Looks nice. As far as what to pay that’s negotiable between you and the seller. I would research CPG or CWT.
If you need it and want it, go for it. Although worn, it doesn't seem to have been harshly cleaned. It would be nice to see the reverse, though.
Several years ago, I bought a set of 10 (P), 1 D, and 1 S Morgan Dollars from a shopping channel. I don't remember what condition he said the coins were, but now that I have the coins, I would rate them BU (maybe). The nice thing that I bought with them is a set of 3 Morgan coins. They were in an NGC holder with a name of "A Western Coin Collection". The coins in the slab are 1882 CC, 1883 CC, and 1884 CC. NGC rated them MS66. I think the 12 Morgans and the Western Coin Collection for about $2K. I might be wrong on the total cost by a hundred or two. But I really haven't shown them to anyone to see what I got into. I had only been collecting a couple of years then.
If you want it, I suggest you offer about $200.00, after you see the reverse, and see what the reply is! They may come back with a better offer!
Look for the 8/7 variety. In the upper loop of the second 8 and a little bar sticking out below the bottom of the 8.
very nice looking coin ; price = full retail so I think there should be some room to negotiate. Looks around VF25 to me.
