Man, that was a tough one. Someone posted one on reddit. Few weeks ago for Florida that saud "America's Wang". That one was easy
If there's one thing I miss about living in an albeit oddly shaped state it would be the frequent coinshows and the fossil-rich beaches. Not to mention, living in Tennessee has left me starved for some salt-tinged air and for seafood that isn't Captain D's or some frozen stuff from the grocery store.
I agree. however, I live here in Florida, and you'd be surprised how little you'd actually take advantage of those things, but 100% you miss it when it's no longer available. I just learned a long time ago, Living here, it's impossible to afford most things targeted at tourists or you won't make your bills. I really like fresh seafood, Stone Crabs, mahi mahi, a nice whole snapper, but it's a once a year, special occasion type thing. either that or I go to a Capt. Ds like place called Moby's or something along those lines.... not the same at all, but whatever it takes. heck, most of the fish I eat comes from the Gorton's Fisherman in a box from the freezer section. I rarely ate cold water lobster when I lived in Boston either... however I seriously miss it now that it's so much less available and costs an arm and a leg. When I was a kid you could go down to the harbor and buy some pounders on the cheap from the lobster boats when they came in, before it got hit with the market mark ups.
Same thing when I lived in Hawaii. Beaches easily accessible every day etc...plus lots of expensive tourist-geared stuff that you can't afford to do. I miss the beach and some of the food now. That being said, I wouldn't want to live there again. I will miss the things and maybe go back to binge
Thanks to the QuarterMaster from the Zoid as well. I received the same Iowa quarter as @furryfrog02 and was puzzled by its meaning as well. I would have posted earlier but have been struggling with that damned Covid stuff the past two days. Thanks also to those who figured it out so I don't have to strain my brain over it any longer. Z
for comparison figured I'd post them. pretty sure it's "arbor day" the title of the below painting that the coins reverse is based on. the building and placement is a dead ringer, but they changed the rest to I guess not be a straight up copy of someone else's work without permission. I love the shadows on this one, also the city or forest or something way way out on the horizon. another of his "Stone City,Iowa" is also amazing in my opinion.
Yo Ho! Zoid received another QuarterNotes masterpiece. I have most of this one figured out. Just one letter is giving me pause. Why is there a Y in this one . . . ? In case it's difficult to read from the photo, the inscription is: DCCCY KM. Many THANKS AGAIN to the QuarterMaster! Z
The Indianapolis 500 is 500 miles in length. 500 miles converts to 805 kilometers hence the Quartermaster’s riddle.
There's gotta be a more cryptic meaning for the Y than that. An illuminati / National Treasure meaning, right? Everything else I agree with. Z
Don't feel bad. I too got the letter, and mine included a Nevada quarter, but even with my readers on, I couldn't make out the counterstamp. (My loupe was in the other room and I was too lazy to go fetch that at the moment.) So as of this posting, the c/s on that one remains a mystery, not so much out of the QM's subtlety, as the fact that my eyesight ain't the greatest!
@lordmarcovan . Because your as old as me and need better glasses. You have to visit your Eye Doctor every year you know.
Here's mine. MISSISSIPPI. I'd like to think there's more to it than the obvious "take a shot at Mississippi for being low IQ". Thank you QM. Regardless, I enjoy all of the quarters I've received as they all are usually some level of a puzzle to decipher.
Technically, the left side of the bell curve just means "below average". Doesnt necessarily mean intelligence. Mississippi is the poorest state in the US, which puts it way to the left of the bell curve for national median income. Yup, that's my guess.
