i have been getting better at telling if coins were AT or NT throughout the years of collecting. i know most of these wild neon color ones i see are AT. i saw this coin and was not quite sure. i was on the fence about picking it up. i dont currently have any V Nickels that were toned nor have i seen many so i dont know if these colors are readily seen on them. i hope it is the real deal if not i have a nice looking coin(in my eyes) and more knowledge on toned coins. :thumb: 1883 "NO CENTS" Liberty Head V Nickel
thats kind of what i was thinking. the only reason i gave it a second thought is remember i almost bought a proof V that was graded that had some similar coloring in it just not as drastic. oh well it will go along with my other AT coins in the collection to have as a reference
The image is badly enhanced/saturated, the surfaces of the coin look altered, and the color progression is completely off. This coin screams RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Having said that, I kind of dig it and would buy it if I could get for around $10 even if it is AT.
well luckily the seller offers a 7 day money back guarantee. so when i get it i can decide if i am going to keep it or not
lol yeah it did stand out artistically. i find it quite a treat for the eyes even after the consensus that it is AT
yeah i have seen some of the coins that they sell on the Bay. this was just one of those out on a limb kinda things. just makes me a little more knowledgeable when dealing with toned coins:smile
