What is a double vice job on a blank planchet and then the dog got ahold of it, @paddyman98 ?

So I send the seller a mail and ask are these all fake?? Well they never wrote me back :)) But I don't understand how they are allowed to continue that.

I have zero ideas as how it was done. Will be curious if someone knows.

Take a Blank Planchet. Attach a Wheat Cent with the Obverse facing one side and another Wheat Cent with the Reverse facing the other side in coin Alignment. Put the 3 Cents into a Vise and squeeze them hard. This is how you achieve the incused and backwards image you see.

I have one just like that from my dad's collection. The zinc rot doesn't go all the way through but it comes close.

I'm really hoping he didn't buy it though...

That should change the thickness of the coin and the diameter. Right?

Might as well misalign the die rotation by 90 degrees on the original vice job coin to add a third "error" to the mix.

Blank planchet squeezed between two cents.

Stack the coins inside a 3/4 inch ID schedule 40 steel pipe and use two steel rods to apply the pressure to the cents. the inside diameter of the pipe will act as a collar and keep the planchet from expanding. You would probably get a better transfer of the design if you used a hydraulic press or preferably a drop press to apply the force. Too slow an application of force may allow the devices on the cents to start "mushing" before they can transfer their images to the blank.

Vice job. I did that with an Ike dollar just for fun.

Post the eBay link(s) and I will get them removed, usually within a couple of hours. That goes for any garage job error (well, I don't usually bother with the $5 or less listings, after all, we have to learn from something, right?).
