Great year! Your no's 1 and 4 are definately my favorites. The details on the sfinx of your no. 4 coin are amazing!
Griffin and shells are very attractive, congrats on a somewhat good year despite a low number of acquisitions Q
Congrats on a good year . My favorites are the Saguntum quandrants (pretty!!), #4 (sphinx!), and the Licinius II (because he looks like such a little troublemaker ).
Thank you for posting your coins, @bcuda ! I’ve always found the stylized imagery on Iberian coins to be very beautiful. It’s a tough choice but my favorite is charming horse on the reverse of number 1, the Carthago Nova. The image has an Expressionistic quality which I love. I have a few from Iberia.
@bcuda.....Really nice selection!...Particularly like the Lic II and the two sweet looking Scallop/Dolphin's...Congrats on a good 12 months collecting!...Paul
I am in Donna's boat/ I also like coins that have mythological beasts/ wildlife on them. I would pick 1 and 4 as my favs. John
Was looking at my top 10 from 2020 and one of them was a different version of the two I purchased this year and put in my top 10 for 2021. Saguntum Spain, 2nd Cent. BC AE Sextans, 3.76 grams Obv: Scallop shell. Rev: Dolphin, crescent above, three dots and Iberian letter A below. The Siege of Saguntum was a battle which took place 219 BC with the Carthaginians and the Saguntines at the town of Saguntum, near the modern town of Sagunto in Spain. The battle is remembered because it triggered one of the most important wars of antiquity, the Second Punic War.
These are all really great coins @bcuda ! My favorites; #1 - I believe it was actually you that made me aware that there is a theory that this coin might show Scipio Africanus. Extremely cool. Been on my list ever since and yours is a great example with nice centering and lots of eye appeal. #9 - The Pompey the Younger tie in is great and the coin itself has lots of heft and eye appeal. Great list!
All great coins, I think I like #1 the best but would want #4 and #6 most for my own collection (I'm highly deficient in Roman Spain!) Picked up an EPωC myself this year:
