I've decided to start using a halogen in conjuction with an incandescent lamp. I find that halogens are great for immediately revealing altered surfaces and hidden cleaning spots. I'd prefer one that is at least 50 watts if possible. Thanks!
Zaneman - I just buy mine at Target they are a genaric brand., I have 10 or so in my office & they work great. They are 100W & cost like $10 . BTW ~ Just wondering if you have ever used a 5X LED light to use on currency? Those type of lights reveal all of the creases, wrinkles, ironed out folds & just about everything else you would want to see on currency. If you havent try it you will be amazed-
I use a Zeico, but I think you will find little difference between brands, provided you get one with a small bulb...Mike
Use the Sylvania Daylight Plus PAR30 75w halogen floods. There is no better bulb on the market for coin photography. LOWES carrys them. Fit a standard socket. They are very hot and will melt a slab if too close.
