I said MS-64. Beautiful coloring and definitely red but I think it has too many small dings to be higher.
Most of what people consider dings on gem Lincoln cents is actually planchet roughness. PCGS MS66 https://www.davidlawrence.com/product/2198937/ Here is a 67+ https://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-ce...-93380.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 That has more contact than mine. The key to a premium grade is the luster. This 45S definitely has the luster, and I think they were hard on it to not give it a 67.
I'm not sure of the reason but with PCGS the jump from 66 to 67 is giant. I always just thought it was the amount of luster. NGC would probably give it a 67.
I hear ya, I have had other wheats around this year in 67 and 67+. This one easily rivals the luster of those.
I guessed MS 66 RD before the reveal (no Ed Wood shenanigans here ). It looks quite mark free and lustrous.
Nice coin. I over estimated how rough PCGS can be on Lincoln cents. I also may have been seeing marks on the slab and not the coin, which is why guessing grades from photos makes it so hard.
