I recently purchased several rolls of BU rolls of Federal Reserve Bank pennies and I was just wondering if no error was on a single coin would the entire roll be the same or should I check each coin seperately. Thanks Ben
When coins are minted they are dumped into a huge hopper that contains thousands and thousands of coins. They do not come off the presses in a given order like an assembly line. The hopper may well contain coins from several different dies or die pairs. So naturally the same is true of coins found in rolls. One roll of coins may contain examples from several different dies - they are not all the same.
