Two things I enjoy are coins and art, especially if the two happen to collide! I know many of us agree coins are a work of art, but the purpose of this thread it to show coins about or depicting art. These could be actual pieces of artwork, painters, musicians, photographers, etc. I'll start. This is a neat little proof 1 Colon coin from El Salvador depicting an image of Salvador Dali's "La Fecundidad." It has a small proof only mintage of 21,000 pieces.
The obverse states - Fight for the dignity of man Unfortunately El Salvador and many of its surrounding countries have been or are torn apart by war
This Italian medal depicts the founding myth of Rome, Romulus and Remus suckling on She-wolf. No exactly representing art, but I find this coin from Haiti really alluring,
I have about 20 of these. Each is made after a famous piece of art. They are sterling and measure about 3 inches.
Easily one of my favorite coins in my collection, a commemorative sterling 5 Euro coin from Latvia celebrating it's famed Baltars porcelain studio. The coin, like the ceramics is lavishly decorated and plate shaped. More info can be found here https://monetas.bank.lv/en/coins/baltars-porcelain
