Don't forget to wear a mask and do it outside! The fumes really reak havok on the sinuses. Also, it does not work on teller stamps or black ink!
Do not do it to notes that you would have graded as it is visible under blacklight. Top stack has no cleaner on it, bottom is the Hell MI note.
i usually take a THICK RED OR BLACK SHARPIE to the note and obliterate ANY and all traces of the dang stinking wheres george travesties! then i learned my bank wont accept them like that so i spend them like that Might just have to try your method Doc! less intrusive to the note, and wont get as many dark stares as i spend the notes lol
Thanks RickieB! I'll keep sharing my tests. Got some oxyclean, the rit stuff and sillyputty today. I also found something I'll have to go back and purchase to try. Daggarjon, I knew you would be happy!
:::RISES FROM THE DEAD::: Sorry to bring this post back to life but the recent post about the yellow seal 2 dollar bill brought this back up. Okay, I'm a collector, I collect world notes, no I dont have 1000s in it, but I have notes from all over going as far back at 1910. Yea its disappointing to find a note that you have been looking for with writing on it, but what is the big deal with Where's George? Notes have always had writing on them of some sort. Sometimes the stamps make the note more sought after, if you look at Japanese Invasion Notes that had Victory Stamps or Souvenir stamps on them, they are less common, but more looked for... So what is the big blasphemy with Where's George?
its defacing US currency to start with:headbang::headbang::headbang: i have seen so many great notes that were ruined by that crap. if people really wanted to track these notes they should just have a system that matches up serial numbers.
