Hey all I got a consecutive date lot of mid and late large cents I'm trying to attribute these the best I can. I asked another group if anyone had any interest in any of them and was going to sell them all for a lower price but how crazy people went over some of them especially the 1834 made me wonder. It was mentioned more then the ugly 1857 I have. It has a due rotation just like the 1830 I have here but they’re rotated opposite directions. At first I thought it was the large letter reverse but after looking more I believe it to be the one in the heading of this post. Thank you for any help or advice!

EDIT: It could be the Large 8 Large Stars and medium letters also this one is hard for me to tell because some stars look large and other look small, the reason I don’t think it is this variety is because that one is extremely rare and also I believe there is a die crack that runs along all of the stars? Or it’s the large letter reverse… so hard for me to tell after staring at these coins for so many ol hours

I like the 1836 with what looks like a small cud.:)

I like the CircCam look of that 1829.

The 1834 is an N-3, large 8 (large date), small stars, small letters. The sixth star points to the point of the coronet. The easy identifier of the “a bit” rare N-5 and “a bit” scarce N-6 is the sixth star points significantly right of the coronet point. The N-6 obverse is always (die) cracked thru the stars to the crossbar of the 4 and beyond to the lower curve of the 3. The N-3 is common.

The 1830 and 1836 are both N-3 also. The other cents are difficult, if not impossible to attribute without reverse images. Both varieties are relatively common.

The 1834,1830, and 1836 are all N-3… interesting coincidence. All are common or relatively common, with no premium for scarcity.

The others are difficult, or impossible to attribute without images of the reverse.

That makes sense after looking at them further I had noticed the die break through the stars. Would have been cool if it were something fun! The places I’m looking for reference points do not break them varieties down enough so I can only get so far at times.

That is very strange I wonder how many more are N-3s as well haha. Well I did take from and back pictures of all 32 coins because I am trying to figure out the best way to list them for sale so people don’t have to bid on ones they do not want or need. I would post all pictures here but it would flood this post LOL

I’m shrouded you never seen them being sold by the roll I though on eBay I feel like those would fetch big bucks just like how people do them with the Morgan’s. You know those “bank wrapped I searched uncirculated Morgan’s” LOL. I will do some research I’m interested now

Is this a coin that looks like it could have been a proof coin but was lost in circulation? I skimmed the thread haven’t had time for the full read, I think that’s about right?

I'm fairly sure the 1829 is an N-2.
