I was stranded next door to our local antique mall so I went inside to see if they had any cheap coins. This was actually my very first coin purchase outside of Ebay or just picking them up from family members.

I can't seem to get a clear enough pic with our camera, so I'll just list what I got:

    I picked up:

    2 1936 Buffalo nickels for $1.50

    1935 Buffalo nickel for $2.00

    1937 Buffalo nickel for $1.50

    1935, 1942 and 1943 Mercury dimes for $2.00 a pop

They're all circulated, but their dates are really nice-looking and they're just the kinda stuff I dig.

EDIT: I got this a while back, but I think it's really cool. It's a Whitman Lincoln cents FOLDER from 1958. No coins in it, but for 99 cents it's pretty neato:

Nice Folder for a novelty. Please don't put coins in there. Note that shinny stuff on the back of the slots. That is the glue from the manufacturing process. Not real great for coins. Still in great condition so I'd keep it as a novelty of the past. Note all Whitman's today are dark blue. Note the prices of thier products listed on that one page. I suspect the guide book they are referring to is the Red Book. And that mentioning of a check list. I'm so old I actually remember those. You would get one and it had most US coins listed and you would cross off the ones you had. WOW, the good old days.

Nice purchases. I like your folder too. I have a number of old Lincoln folders and had even thought about collecting them at one time. But, I have too much stuff to start with.

Oh definitely, it'll just be kept in plastic in "the Coin Drawer"...the secure home of all my favorite goodies. :thumb:

Thats what is important. And nice folder also. You will have to keep practicing on the pictures.

Definitely, I can't seem to get a good crisp resolution of the coin...we have a pretty shoddy camera though so I'm not surprised. For now you'll all just have to count on my tales of adventure to paint a good enough picture. :D

There's a coin auction at the mall this Saturday...might go watch some folks buy some goodies just for the heck of it.

I have a green folder just like that one. It came in an estate collection I obtained some time ago. It was partially filled with coins in various condition and I have been adding the missing ones. Also have been upgrading the few culls that came in it. I have not noticed any damage from this folder.

  11. Money well spent. Enjoy the new coins. TC
