I just purchased this coin and had a few questions about it. First and foremost, were there really examples with the owl facing left? Also is this coin a legitimate example or not? I am still fairly new to the coin collecting world and would love any help.

    Thanks!

Not a legitimate ancient coin, I'm afraid.

For genuine examples of the dolphin/owl type of Tyre, see here.

This one, for example, sold for $2100:

I would echo that it is a fake - style and coin fabric is what clinches it for me.

Rare reduced weight shekel, 8.56 g, not in the Elayi 'corpus'. It is my conjecture that the letter mem to the right of the date (year 1) is the initial of the Persian satrap Mazday. Year 1 = BC 354/353.

Rare coin uniquely citing Ba'al Dagon instead of Ba'al Tarz. NFA Auction XXV lot 189,8.15 g. Catalogued as a didrachm, Babylonian weight shekel might be more accurate. The major temple of Dagon was in Ashdod. Ba'al Dagon Didrachm.jpeg
