The doubled edge lettering is only known on the 2007(P)john adams gold dollar, keep looking.

K THANKS I clearly see doubling though. But then again a hit would show the seperation

  5. What I see more prominently is the date 197(?) below and maybe some letters before the date(?), slanted and going into and crossing the rim starting at the 6:00 position and moving to the right and downward. Do you see that?

the lettering is incused on the edge, but this isn't the type of doubling worth money, it might be incused doubling, but this isn't a die or strike event. its run through a machine like below, it's impressed,

with a die like the below,
    edge die.jpg

The doubled edge lettering with value have been run through the machine twice or more, or not at all, or the wrong coin run on the die.
yours displays a shelving in the lettering, and it's some sort of machine doubling

you can find examples of the different types of doubled edge lettering here. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/462/John-Adams-dollar-coin/

there's also ones that got hung up running through where the spacing of the lettering is either closer or further apart.

She says edge but I think she means the edge of the obverse. I'm seeing md.

Never mind. It's the edge, but I still think it's md.
