Anybody have any experience with MS-70? I've been using it to clean the dirt and grime off of circulated Lincolns and it works like a charm. Problem I'm having is cleaning the darned cleaner off the coins and even my hands. What's the easiest way to remove MS70 once it's done its job?

Soap and water should do the trick on your hands. You have a much bigger problem to consider though - MS70 turns copper blue & purple.

    Doug-

Is that color change over time? I've only used it so far on circulated browns to remove dirt and build-up from around the devices with no visible change to the coin itself. I haven't tried using it on anything uncirculated. I basically just leave it on the coin long enough to swab the dirt off with a q-tip. Seems no matter how long I rinse the coin for afterward though, they still have a slight sticky feel to them.

Yeah, it takes time. And that's the problem with putting stuff on coins or coins in stuff - you pretty much always have to find something to then take the "stuff" off.

Can't really help ya - acetone I guess. But then acetone turns copper colors too.

Thanks for the advice. On the bottle it said to test copper first. I did without immediate visible changes, so I thought it was safe. Good to know that over time it's going to effect them.

I used to laugh at that until it happened to me. One Large Cent and one Indian Head Cent turned Red. NO not the Red people say about a new Cent, a real, real Red. Howeever, nothing wrong with a little color in your collection either. :goofer:

It's not called color, it's toning. :goof:

I have always used a three part bath -- 100% rubbing alcohol then distilled water and then tap water -- and then back to the distilled water and finally the coin gets blotted dry with a cloth diaper...

NO. Not really. Toning is one thing but a coin that completely turns another color is just discoloration. Toning people wouldn't want it so not really toning if the tone people don't like them.
