I was a "taker" of HSN. I did terrible with the price. I became inpatient. When I did not find what I wanted elsewhere (including E-bay), I grabbed the 5 dollar gold piece up from the advertisment via internet. I do not have a whole lot of regrets. It was a learning experience, and perhaps my last with a TV sale.
coin vault - the real thing Speaking of coin vault (the other form - where one might store their coin collection), does any one have any bright ideas. My safe it way too small.
While I do enjoy HSN's Coin Collector their prices are outrageous on most coins, and very rarely do I see a good deal. Same thing with ShopNBC's Coin Shoppe. But they are out to make a buck on the newbie collector, or somebody who ain't even a collector at all. I remember when I first started out, I used to think of how great of deals I could have gotten on those channels late at night, if I had the money. Now I really now, that I could be saving a lot of money, buying elsewhere. Whatever their price is, don't trust em', and no matter how persuasive Mezack is, DON'T buy it.
In a general sense anything bought on Coin Collector or from the NBC coin show are extremely overpriced. I have seen things for sale on Coin Collector for literally three times what the mint is selling them for. Still if you are intrigued by the coin or coins and you just can't resist hit the net first and see if you can find it there. I guarantee you it will be for less. By the way I do like the Stan and Ollie comparison but I refer to them as Otter and Flounder as my homage to Animal House.
Travis, buddy, the only time that you saw a good deal on either of those shows was when you fell asleep and dreamed it. I have NEVER seen anything on there that I couldn't get for at most half of their price.
