Looks like a bracteate- so medieval

Thanks, just looked these up. So, probably 13th Century Europe? I was hoping it was Dark Ages Tribal British. At least it is a genuine coin for a dollar!

Could be medieval if larger and 0.5-0.75g, or SE Asian if smaller and >0.5g

 

Looks like an ancient hammered tooth crown. Before you ask , first known was 4000 yrs old from Philippines ( Luzon)and in Europe Italy about 700BC.

Agree with @Ryro on the time period. Yours looks smaller than a true bracteate although it's the same style. It's actually a Hohlpfennig (German for "hollow penny"). The City of Luebeck minted similar types: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces112730.html
