I was watching the YouTube thing on nickels and started going through mine for the hell of it and found a 1969 S FS RPM nickel I looked it up on PCGS and it said there are none noted due to poor dies at the time. Check the pics out and see if you concur that this fits the ticket. How would I go about valuing this? Thanks
http://www.varietyvista.com/05 JN RPMs/RPMs 1969S.htm Can't really tell anything by those pictures but it could be an RPM.Your nickel is a proof coin so no need for Full steps as all are supposed to be anyway rather than the average business strikes which have more trouble.Stay off of youtube!!!some is good but most are just for attention.
Proof strikes are 99.9 % FS......full steps pertain to mint state strikes ,And with all the pet persons on this forum a avatar of a dog with a cigarette in its lips isn't going to win you many brownie points.
I have now experienced coin snobbery. I collect and view coins for not for their monetary value but for their historical significance and just for the fun of it. Have you ever held a 1943 Copper penny? I did a month ago and it gave me chills not only because of its value but the reason the steel penny was produced in the same year and my two great uncles who died for that same cause. I only asked for the monetary value to see whether or not I needed to take more special care of it. The ones of you with the pinky finger in the air answers- Thank you for wasting bandwidth
First off your coin is a proof, so no need to say it is Full Steps. The Chinese (ali baba) have been copying the 43 copper for years. Ans it is probably the most counterfeited coin there is. Seriously doubt you held a real 43 copper. Your photo of the MM just isn't clear enough. You will have to take better photos. PS 99.5% of what you find on you tube is a waste of time.
BGW. Just going to say that most of the people on this website are in this as a profession. dealer's, experts and writers of books, and can sometimes come across as being short or flip in their answers. A few on here are not in that category of professional, myself included in the few group of non-professionals. You can either hang around and learn from the pool of knowledge available and grow thicker skin, or find a different site of people that will automatically agree with you even when you and they, are unsure or wrong, or the pictures just don't show it. That's your choice to make. When I arrived 2 years ago to this site I was thinking just like you at first. My questions got better so did my pictures and my knowledge got better also. I've been on other sites and I learn nothing from them. Even when they are clearly wrong they are right because everyone follows the herd. It's objective answers, whether you want to hear it or not that leads to enlightenment. Hope you hang around and settle in, you'll see in time it's not how you think it is at first impression around here.
