Yes but the line near the bottom points out that they are sold out at every location within 200 miles of me. Amazon has some at $180 and even calls the Ikea shelves.
There's only one left at the store nearest me (80 miles away), out of stock at the other three ikeas in my state. I wonder if there are more sitting in container ships waiting to unload. Perhaps not-- it may be a problem of manufacturing backlog... like almost everything these days.
One of the few times my geography is better than yours Doug. If you lived closer to ME there are 27 in stock in my town.
Just got in from work, wow! Quite overwhelmed by the number of replies! Thank you all so much for the kind words.... I'll start to answer some of your questions now.... @spirityoda.....I dont really know the value of my collection but probably around a couple of grand...Yes the bottom shelf holds some fossils that I've found whilst Metal detecting, in general just sitting on the surface!.....The tortoises name is Schnapps..(misspent youth!) The coins you asked about have been correctly identified by @Finn235.
@FitzNigel......No it doesn't lock but the top plate and plinth are made of wood'ish so I think a locking system would be very easy to assemble.
Here's mine: It bears the date 1907 on the reverse, but was actually issued in 1932 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Compagnie Parisienne de Distribution d'Électricité [C.P.D.E.] (the Parisian Electric Distribution Company). The obverse represents a personification of electricity (with the rays of the sun), and the reverse shows a woman bestowing light on the Parisian skyline. The medal was designed by Paul-Marcel Dammann (1885-1939). It's 65 mm. in diameter and weighs 115.1 grams. As for your other request, do you mean 4th row going up or going down? Not sure I have a photo of either.
Thanks @DonnaML......It was one of your threads discussing how you display your coins in vertical trays that encouraged me to look for some sort of display system. It took me and my son around 1 hour to assemble, but remember I'm in Spain....Just to let you know the glass panels are quite heavy though so I would recommend a helper...I dont know about your neck of the woods but here Ikea assemble it for 35 bucks in your house, if they've delivered!....
When I was a boy in Indiana, I ONCE experienced 24 below zero and swore never again to be in a place where that was possible let alone the daily average during a cold snap. My coins will have to survive in cardboard boxes. I will never forget a co-worker who came in one day and announced that his daughter just named her new pet turtle: Fluffy! No one knew what to say to the poor guy. That daughter would be over fifty now and I doubt that 'Fluffy' is still alive. Turtles can live for a long time but the stress of being expected to respond when called 'Fluffy' would not be without stress. Selling baby turtles as pets for little children has been against the law for years now. Oficially, it has something to do with Salmonella but I think of it as ''Fluffy's Law''.
@Finn235......Thanks...Yes there are more coins but probably not as many as you thought. I'm still playing with it, great fun!.....My idea is to change areas every couple of months to show different series etc....The top shelf will definitely be set aside for the larger bronze coins with no particular criteria, this being the shelf to look at when stood up whereas the lower shelves are for a seated viewing.
That is a beautifull setup you have. Someone mentioned that dogs/ cats/ pets may be a problem of concern. I would be more worried about humans. I remember, one of my lawn clients asked me if I had my coins in display cases, so visitors to the house could admire them. He was amazed, when I told him, that might not be such a cool idea..... John That could be OK in Saudi Arabia/ where thieves loose their hands or head
@Libby007......No sorry you can't adjust the shelves and as for humidity, I have more of a problem here with dehydration, it's very dry!....I have however hidden a silica-gel bag on each shelf.
Yes TIF you can slot them in anywhere and quite unobtrusive. was nice to hear @expat's experience in his shop.
@panzerman thanks........I actually live in a very very peaceful town and there is no way anybody would be able to enter my home let alone steal anything...Believe me.
The display looks so good, Paul. Nicely done. (Wanted to get that in publicly, despite our numerous private emails about setting up our display cases in recent months) I think IKEA fit the bill for both of us, mine being of their Rudsta brand offerings, as seen in my top ten list. Sadly, my cases don’t have the built-in light, though.
There is one thing you do need to look into and that's lighting!...Something I completely overlooked, as the optician shop was very well lit!...It didn't even cross my mind until I started to place coins on the shelves! The top light is a cheap $8 (5 led ) but does have a remote control on/off and does the jobat the moment....I then purchased 2 x 40 led strips on magnetic bases that can be re-charged via USB...Good value and throw a lot of light... Edit....Cross over with Bob.....Bob take a look at these.. https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B09DP2XV1V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1....They are slim and the magnetic plates that hold the strips can be stuck (glass) or screwed (wood)..Paul
I'm surprised that nobody yet has commented on those massive snail fossils you have on the bottom shelf - they are totally awesome! I have a few as well but none are that big...
