The rim on this coin seems wider than normal, but as you can see this coin has been cleaned :headbang:. What do you think? Is this a matte proof? How about the VDB posted below. Thanks for any input.
This 1909 VDB looks alot like the 1909 posted above, but has more wear. What do you guys think? Yeah or nay on either one?
I say nay on them both, don't see the die lines in front of Lincoln's nose or the die line going from the shoulder to the "Liberty" either. Do you see either of these when looking at the coins in hand??? Here's the obverse of my 1909 matte proof for comparison which clearly shows the die lines off Lincoln's nose and you can see the line towards "Liberty" as well, just have to look for it a little closer (PCGS PR65RB):
Hello and thanks for the rapid reply / Pic. Yes, both coins appear to have to die markers, and that is why I took the time to try and get some pictures. The marks are very faint but visable on both coins. Also, the rims appear squared off and slightly thicker than normal. The rims are smooth in texture compared to the coin itself. Still say nay? Or should I try to provide better pictures? Thanks for your time.
The first coin appears to be a possibility. The second coin appears to have been blasted in a glass beader or hit with walnut shells in a sand blaster. The third one is a genuine and very nice matte proof.
