Hi everyone, I’ve been really enjoying the Top 10 posts as I do every year. You all did so well! I haven’t posting much lately because I’m just trying to pull myself together. I’ve started volunteering a my local food bank, which I really enjoy. You can never go wrong when volunteering. I spent two full days stuffing envelopes for their annual fundraising campaign and loved every minute of it. This was a fantastic coin year for me. There were many generous gifts and I was able to participate in AMCC 3. The year started out with the gift of my first coin from Syracuse. A wonderful present from @LaCointessa. I’ve always liked the coins from Syracuse and now I enjoy admiring one from hand instead of the screen. Thank you so much!! Coin supplied by our own @johnanthony! We had another fun Guess the Cointalker contest hosted by @Curtisimo in the spring. @zumbly was one of the winners, winning the prize from @Theodosius. Zumbly generously passed on the prize to me. I was so excited when the package came in. Here is the link to the thread where I show them because my phone won’t cooperate and download the pictures. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/finally-my-sweet-prize-are-here.378369/ They all fit my main interest so we’ll. Thanks again, they are much appreciated! In the summer I had to move. It was hard, but, change is necessary for growth. I like the new place I’m in and am slowly adjusting myself. @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix sent me a message and sent me these awesome coins just as I got the news and they were a bright light in a dark time. Crispus Quintillus Magentius There’s more to come!! Erin
I was able to go win a coin from the AMCC 3 auction that had been on my wish list since I put it together. It’s the Tribute Penny. It’s in rough shape and a fouree, but, I was able to afford it and I’m completely happy with it. When I received the package, I was surprised to see that some gifts were included from @Severus Alexander and an anonymous donor! A few Byzantine coins - an Alexius Angelus-Comnenus trachy, a John II half tetarteon and an overstruck Michael II follis with Nicephorus on top from Severus and a Theodora follis from the anonymous gifted. Severus Alexander takes far better pictures than I do. I’m still in disbelief over it. Wowzers!! My brother was finally able to break his coin dry spell and won these coins. Posthumous Alexander tetradrachm, a Cistiphoric tetradrachm from Mysia and an obol from Pisidia. Needless to say that we made out like bandits this year! I’m eternally grateful to all of you, my friends, on this forum for being here and sharing your support and encouragement and always sharing your awesome coins. Ive learned so much and continue to learn. Man, I have no idea where I’d even be mentally or emotionally without you guys. You really do make a difference. Never change! All the best as we head into the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022. May the ancient coins be with you! Erin
Erin, Greetings from Churchville . I love that Sicilian bronze coin with the lovely patina, especially the butting-bull side ! The Crispus/Camp coin is very attractive too . Is that unusual mintmark from the Rome Mint ? The Byzantine coins are a wonderful addition too . The anonymous Byzantine bronze looks like an over-strike , am I right about that ?
Those coins are lovely. All my best wishes for a wonderful new year, numismatically and otherwise. (I just looked at your profile; I had forgotten that you're in Ontario. My son is in graduate school in Toronto, and I have some cousins who live in Hamilton.)
Excellent coins Erin!....Great to see your collection growing with some 'really' cool pieces!...Good luck on the following year.....Paul
Great coins Erin, I like to read how happy you are with them! That Syracuse bronze is a neat one! And thanks for your interest in my posts, (although not many posts this year). You re the no. 1 supplier of 'likes'. Im happy that you like my posts and show your appreciation. I wish you all the best!
You had a great year, Erin! That fantastic Syracuse bull, the rare Quintillus, the handsome Crispus campgate, the historic Tribute Penny, the Byzantines -- the whole lot!! May 2022 be just as good to you!
Added this and four others at the Willamette Coin Clubs recent coin show in Portland, OR for $10 apiece. Tiberius II, Constantine had a short reign and some of his coins are scarce including this one. I also picked a nice Arab/Byz. Of course, all make me smile.
Thanks so much, everyone! @Al Kowsky - the Byzantine bronze is indeed overstruck and I think the Crispus mint is Rome. @donna - I'm glad to hear of your Canadian connections! @Limes - you did fantastic this year, especially the Brutus denarius! @Deacon Ray - it's so good to see you back too! @Black Friar - awesome coin! @ancient coin hunter , @akeady , @Spaniard and @Roman Collector - thank you so much for your comments! I hope 2022 is better to all of us! Erin
Looks like you added a good number of coins this year, Erin! Congrats on your your successful bid for that tribute penny! Love that Agathokles bronze and the Quintillus (such distinctive hair ).
I am thrilled with your new additions Erin! That Syracuse one is really nice. Thanks for showing them to us John
Love the Agathokles. Thanks for sharing it here. Here's praying 2022 brings better times for each and every one of the CT gang.
Thanks @TIF , @panzerman , @ominus1 and @1934 Wreath Crown ! That Agathokles is something else, eh! All of these coins are fabulous and very much appreciated! Here are my AE Shekel of Tyre and Tribute Penny fouree together. Even if I don’t get a chance to upgrade them, they hold a special place in my collection and will never leave. Happy Sunday all! Erin
Looks like you had a great year Erin, and looks like people here like you even more My vote goes to the Syracuse bronze too Cheers and Merry Xmas Q
Thanks @Cucumbor. I don’t understand. But, I will always appreciate the kindness and warmth that everyone shows. There have been many a joyful tear shed over what I have received from what you all share. Thanks for being my friends! Erin
