I nominate this day, oh wait, that's not right. I dedicate this day, no wait, that's not it either. Oh yes, I, @CoinJockey73, duly declare this Friday, November 26, 2021, "Found it" Friday, Woo-hoo! And what a lovely day it is! Please, post any and all of your favorite "found" coins. That includes parking lot finds, pocket change, a change purse raid, coinstar, metal detecting, i don't care! Modern, ancient, foreign and/or domestic, let's see your all time greatest "finds"! I'll kick it off with my most recent find, and therefore my current favorite. I'm very fickle.
This is my coolest find, in my opinion. Not just the oldest, but it's the only V nickel I've ever found.
Sure! My last 4 day Metal Detecting spree (Nov 23-26) yielded my 2nd Seated Dime and my 6th SLQ.. A had a total of 11 Silver coins in that spree
Prefect examples, thank you for contributing! I figured the metal detecting might bring out some cool finds. *edit I saw that thread! Your finds are always amazing
Most of you have seen this before but it's truly my best Find. 1847 Large Cent. Also, my first Large Cent dug with a Metal Detector.
Posted this a year or more ago. I found this when walking along the beach promenade. Advertised in the windows of our giftshop and real estate office that a coin necklace had been found. Next day a lady came in and described it perfectly and showed the broken chain, and that it was a gift from her Grandfather. She was so pleased as two days later she was due to fly home to Belgium. Image is missing the ring for the chain to go through.
I can’t as there isn’t room on CT. A lot of the coins I’ve posted were unpacked and I forgot about them but I keep posting them as I unpack and find more. He ate a few of my favorites.
A unique location - found in the clean out pit below the pulper at a recycled newspaper paper mill, circa 1978-1980. My summer job as a laborer while in college. People hid or lost all kinds of weird things in old newspapers. Currency also survived the pulper (barely), I think $50 was the max found while I worked there. It was a nasty job but when you got assigned to "the pit" at least there was a treasure hunt opportunity.
I was in a very fortunate time for collecting coins. WW II was over and people were trying to get their lives back together. In most households the piggy banks were being busted open to help with new families, new housing, etc. If working class people had any money, they were using it. And, I was watching for it.
I will let these slide, as your stuff is very cool, but i didn't mean stuff you've found in your house! My error for not being more specific. But it is my fault, and not the fault of some 17 year old kid who outsmarted me.
