@John Anthony I totally accept your point. There are very few of these around anyway, but its a nice feeling if one has the cleanest, most well preserved example. Just like I liked the Asander stater for its historical importance and rarity but also knew it had provenance and was (to date) the best out of 2 known examples.

@DonnaML you don't have to worry on that score because your posts are not only enlightening but even your disagreements are put across very politely Donna. No I don't buy a coin to sell it, per se. But after recent events, I've realised that in life one should be prepared to lose anything and everything, persons or possessions. Also I would like to leave my near and dear ones with some things of value, long after I've become worm meal.

So when I sold my Ptolemy mnaieion, I bought the Asander stater and a couple of rare sovereigns which I'd been after for many years. The Ptolemy appears to be more readily available of late. Similarly, I sold a high grade GB Commonwealth Unite to buy the 12 Zecchini and am trying to convince myself it was the right decision. Recently I've had restricted access to much of my personal resources, a bit like Britney and am looking forward to freedom day . Anyway enough of finance and economics, we're here to talk about coins

Finally, to me as a layman, the 12 Z coin posted above looked sharper than this 15 Z example in strike, details and legends:

Thanks @TIF that was very helpful. The one offered by Roma in their auction XVI lot 374 has to be the finest example I've been able to find. But isn't "Some strengthening of details" just a nicer way of saying "tooled"....

Can't imagine why someone would pay £6,000 (including BP) for a coin that has been tampered with especially if the one listed immediately after that is not impaired, albeit with some strike weakness and lesser details!!!
