I agree. In my first post (#2 ) I posted a photo of the D mint 42/41 overdate. Also, in the title, the OP states he has the Denver minted coin. It's very possible I'm wrong but I'm still of the opinion it's an altered (or fake) coin.
Yeah, and paddyman will likely take you for a stroll and you'll both find a lot of change on the street. He knows where to look! Steve
UPDATE: Just now found out from PCGS that the dime is NOT an error. graded as XF45. anyone want to buy a XF45 1942 Merc for $155.00? lol Oh well live and learn.
cost of membership+cost of grading+S/H+ insurance= $155.00 (out that money no matter how you name it, Lesson learned)
I too saw his quote of not wanting to lose a friend over this and was impressed by Southernman189. This is the kind of person who is becoming much too rare these days. What's the last time you saw someone put into words, that he valued a friendship more than money.
Just saw this post and am sorry to hear it didn't pan out for you. (I also agree with others in that I've noticed your "even temperament" and light humor over many posts you're contributed to. Thanks for that as well.) I noticed the die deterioration as well but considered that even dies from the desired variety might have produced enough coins to have die deterioration.
Eventually, southernman will find his Tupelo Treasure. I agree. He has been kind and fun, a nice addition to this site.
I am kinda Lazy, it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile, so I choose "SMILE" most of the time. You folks are the only folks over the many years I have collected coins and currency that I could talk to. Most everyone else knew less than me and that's pretty bad. So Thank you folks for opinions and wealth of knowledge. Even if I get my "bubble burst" every so often.
