My son and I plan on attending on Saturday. Will probably be there around 11/1130. This will be our first show since the last Whitman show in 2019. Looking forward to it!

    I'll be there Friday.
I plan to arrive about 10 (opening time?)
I'll stay as long as my money lasts.
I'll mostly be looking for EAC items but also Early Commems (new or upgrades).

I had planned on going, but..

with the Delta variant I am at risk and I decided to pass, especially seeing so many people without masks at the local shows.

    I don't expect to NEED a mask ...
BUT I'll have one with me.
The ol' CYA caution -- or is that CYF(ace)?

I've had my 2 shots (Moderna) and the booster so I feel okay.
Plus I've had my yearly flu shot.

I was born in South Baltimore and the crime rate in Baltimore isnt any more or less than any zip code in the U. S. Crime does not have boundaries.....it can happen anytime anywhere.... no matter the zip code or location.
There is a church behinde the convention center they charge $20 to park well lit in the dark, well patroled by law enforcement, a short walk across the street and into the center.
As a vendor who has help set up and run food shows at the center security is top of the mark!
Like any other place use common sense remove you name tag. Don't look like a traget...and you wont be one.
And look anyone in their eyes dont let them think your an easy mark. I've have worked in all areas of the city...and have never had 1 issue...its all about how one carries one self.

I don’t disagree, @Paddy54, but the fact remains that the images from the 2020 riots, where the participants were filmed coming within the shadow of the Convention Center, are hard to ignore.

I have used the precautions and techniques that you outlined many times. The trouble is my wife needs something to do in the city when I am at the show that goes beyond sitting in the hotel room. She no longer feels safe, despite the fact that she had visited many spots in the city in the past.

I really feel sorry for the decent people of Baltimore that are weighted down by a comparatively small number of thugs. The city has built a first class convention center, the Inner Harbor area is attractive and the sports stadiums are first rate. The trouble is crime and violence matter. Once it’s imprinted in the public’s minds, it’s hard to shake the image.

.John I can totally understand that the wife has concerns....these days eveytime you leave your home you risk factor goes up.
I have worked in the food industry since 12 y/o , my first job was a bakery on Pearl st....3 blocks down from Lexington market the hood. I work there throughout college...never had an issue. I worked for Deitz & Watson i serviced all market foot prints around Baltimore, Washington DC, Northern Va. Never had an issue...However over 30 years ago in of all place Severna Park Md. While working 1 Sunday Morning
I over heard an old man just talking...ramblings on and on.
It came to be that he had went into the A&P across Richie Hwy. Wanted to buy a loaf of bread ,but no one was in the store to take his money! He kept sayin I could of walked out of the store and no one would of known!
I over heard him, picked up the phone dialed 911, told the local police to meet me on the parking lot.
Sure enough the store was robbed and the 7 staff members were locked in the freezer with a screw driver thru the door handle so they couldn't get out.
When the cops did arrive they asked me How did you know?
Hearing the old man go on and on about no one in the store 2+2=4 no matter how you add it up.

But to lighten things up a Thanksgiving story!
Years ago as a meat cutter , I work early Thanksgiving morning.
At that time our family was larger and I was in charge of making dinner for both sides of our family.
So I would get up and go into work open the store and be home by 10 am to start dinner for like 20 to 25 people.
Well one Thanksgiving, morning a young mother had waited until like 8 am to shop for the days feast.
Again I am minding my business and I over hear this..
The daughter to the mother.....what else we having with the turkey mom?
Mon to daughter oh stuffing, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut , sweet potatoes, peas, glazed carrots, pumpkin pie etc....
Meanwhile I also hearing a 20+/- frozen turkey banging around the shopping cart. It was the same sound one would hear in a bowling alley. You know that sound pins hitting hard wood pins....?
Next I am thinking what day are you cooking that turkey as it is going to take a week in the refrigerator to thaw!
1 day in the ice box for ever 4 lbs of the bird to thaw properly.....unless you're going to hang it in the shower for a force thaw....and that still would of taken more time than enough to cook that now bacterial laden bird.

Post script sauerkraut is served on just about every table no matter the demographics in Baltimore Md.
And I do mean EVERY demographics, you see Baltimore has a larger German population, and their love of Kraurt
has crossed many barriers in and around Bmore hon! That Baltimoreese..... "hon" happy Thanksgiving
