    Good evening everyone,

Because I have been practicing taking photographs and learning as I go I wanted to take a change and show you some of my favoruit coins from my collection.

Here you have my 1961 500 Kronur coin from 1960. This is the proof version of the coin. Only three pieces are known to exist and this is the second best piece. One in the central bank of Iceland musium one in the royal mint in London and mine. I bought this last summer. This coin was always thought to exist but was never found after some investigation I was able to find the owners.

Now this is a token from a small town in Iceland called budardalur. The token is for one bread. Date pre 1900´s there are 4 pieces known to exist

The 1966 2 Kronur thick planchet KM#13a.2 - These are extremly hard to find in such good condition - 300 hundered are gussed to exist. I think less

1 Krona 1966 wrong wrong material and thin planchet - I have seen three of these - Two come from my collection

Hope you had fun looking at these

I will upload some more after the weekend

Wow, great looking coins. Thanks for sharing. I flew through Reykjavic a few years ago on my way back from a military deployment. Unfortunately it was dark when we stopped. I really wanted to see the country, even if it was from the air.

We used to have a US base here in Iceland. They made their own tokens witch I own. Cool tokens.

hiho off to work we go

That proof 1961 500 Kronur is a real beauty, and all of your photos are excellent.

One of my friends went to Iceland last month on vacation and had a great time. He said that the Icelandic women are gorgeous and friendly.

If I was still single I would be there yesterday...:p

Great pieces , I love low mintage pieces. Even in the junkiest of conditions I tend to hold them only selling off what is truly common.

I'm just curious how you can guarantee the authenticity of this piece ? It's so crudely minted that I'm sure someone could make a convincing copy. "considering they're only 4 in existence"

    Thank you bigsilvercoins :)

hiho even though I agree with Icelandic women being beautiful and friendly the country as well and the other half of Icelanders as well hehe. You should bring our other hafl to Iceland. It´s a fun place to visit and because of the currency drop here you can visit for much less then it used to be.

    Thank you Russ :)

-LTB It´s just the start, I still have to get my set up of the rig and controle the lighting a little better. But I will get there :)

weryon I understand your concerns, This piece was confirmed by the Icelandic musium. You have to also understand that only one coin has been faked that´s Icelandic but it was done in Libanon. I think like with most things they could easely see it with microscopes, contents of metls ect like with every other coin. There are three other variants of this coin. But this is only one coin of my tokens collection I have around 25 and 4 extremly rare. Rest is rare.

Thanks everyone for you kind replys :)

It's great that the museum could authenticate your piece for you. I will be keeping a eye out for more of your rare pieces that you hold in your collection.

Hip hip for cold countries , beautiful women and lesbian prime ministers ;)

    Siggi,

That is indeed a nice proof:hail:

I haven't forgot about looking a my non-proof 500 Kronur ... just haven't gone by the box yet ... maybe this week.

I haven't been to Iceland but would like to one day! I plan to start traveling the world in 2013.

The krona with the "guardians" looks interesting. :) In terms of circulation coins, I like the pieces issued after the (1981) currency reform better though ...
