No nickels or dimes. Might add even more value to the "09 nickels and dimes.

So was the January production figure of 1 oz. AGE at shown at 85,000 a combined number of 2009 and 2010 coins sold? Is this due to the Mint producing the Eagles coins later into the last year than they typically do when they typically end production of current year in November?

85,000 AGE bullion is the combination of 2009 and 2010 for january. now it is 99,500 as of today. 59,625 for 2010 and 39,875 for 2009.

it looks like the mint might have to suspend this year and next year production of american eagle silver proof, collectors unc with w mint mark silver dollar. and also the american eagle gold proof.

as for general circulation coinage. dime and nickel might be few again or none at all. but i do see quarter and cent increase instead.

I was very afraid of this too this year... but the year is long. Let's hope because there is very little promising new products from the Mint this year in terms of interesting products or new issues, apart from AtBQ and Silver commems.

I think there are going to be a lot of unhappy collectors if the 2010 ASE proof is not made and the 3 ounze America the Beautiful is. Can't say I really blame them.

Just an added tidbit, the 2011 with the ship on it commemorating Vicksburg I think looks impressive.

I have to agree on both points. I like the 2011 Vicksburg National Military Park design. It should be a favorite. That's the shipMatthew McConaughey was trying to find in the movie Fool's Gold isn't it? or was it Sahara?
    That was a good movie!

It's kind of funny to hear news like this. They are talking of low (or no) mintages of the denominations that circulate, but they just keep pumping out those darn dollar coins! I do my part and purchase coins throught the direct ship program, but I'm sure most of the ones I've spent are sitting in bank vaults as I type my 1000th post!

    troublesbrewin remember rotary phones?

Mintage probably will be low for the circulating coinage again this year, people are breaking out their State Quarters and spending them because they need the money. It's just a sign of the times. The prez dollar situation is alot like the Morgan Dollar story, congress says the mint has to make em and nobody really wants them. They wind up on the "isle of misfit coins"

Perhaps printing paper money is what they should think about quitting?

I guess it's an if at this point, but if they don't mint the ASEs, AGEs and AGB proofs, would the previous years go up in price?

Or perhaps stop printing $1, $2 and $5 notes entirely and replace with $1 (existing), $2 and $5 coins. Phase out the smaller cent coins in circulation if necessary... but keep all current issue coins available in future Mint and Proof sets to please the collectors.

I would love it if they came out with a $2.50 and $5.00 coins, and maybe even a $10. I have wanted to see that happen for years. It would be a great move, but they don't seem to like good ideas anymore.
I know they can't be gold anymore, but the 1908-1929 gold Indians were my favorite.

Off topic, but how did the 2010 cents get in circulation a month before the big party in Springfield? I wonder about our government sometimes. geeesh

They've been rolling out in Puerto Rico from what I've read, but I cannot find the reasons why they started there.
