Are we trying to guess the grade given by PCGS or what you think it is?

as they say grade the coin not the label, i was thinking of bidding on this, pcgs gives it a grade i think is ridiculous, was just trying to see who agrees with me..i think they are off by 2 points, but?? tell me what you think...(also, orignal pic shows more detail, i will reveal it in a few hours or so..

So we are trying to grade an image of an image. We can't see any detail and it's out of focus. I'll bet PCGS got it right. My wild guess is 66, maybe 66+.

i believe you and me and sensiblesal66 have it right, ok, since i cannot figure out how to block the label of "their" picture, i will just reveal it now...i feel they are off by 2 points, they grade it 67+ i am showing pics, and also link to the auction, check out the site, their pictures really show a lot of scratches and chatter...you can blow up the sites picture 10-X (option on their site to enlarge, then you can see what i mean) 1034733-1.jpg 1034733-2.jpg

pcgs got it very wrong, imho, i would grade it ms-65 perhaps66 if feeling generous....please go to the auction site and see the coin in expanded vies, lots and lots of chatter and scratches....they do not show in my little pics or pics of pics, lol

I'll change my vote to MS-67. What we are seeing are chatter marks that were on the blank before the coin was struck. The strike was not strong enough to remove all the chatter.
Grading these is not easy. I'm sure a better image will show why PCGS gave it MS-67.

i count at least 12 scratches on ikes portrait and another dozen or so in fields, look at 'THEIR own pictures for a 67, that coin is no way in hades a 67+..did you look at the auction site pics?? i own quite a few ike 67's and none are like this one..

It is most likely the photos, Luster plays a big part in the grades of these also. Not to mention that pcgs photos are glamour shots, and you cannot rely on them 100%.

I'd guess a 66 tops, as I don't believe any MS Ikes are worthy of a 67+ grade when you can see obvious imperfections on the coin. This example is loaded with hits on both sides and probably only worth about $50-60 to me.

With a PCGS pop 2, and a value of $7,500, buyer beware! I don,t think ANY business strike Ike is worthy of this grade.

With one of the 2 being offered. And a high bid of $126, really what could go wrong. This MS67 sold in 2019 for 1920 w/BP.

The piece being offered in GC is much cleaner than the 67 above.

I'm surprised that it doesn't have a CAC (Crap-A..-Crap) sticker on it, bad PCGS.
