I pre-ordered a 2021 Peace Dollar on 24 May 2021, checked on the status within the required timeline contacted the seller 3x and now i'm hosed as it is past the the dispute time. Beware pre-ordering anything, I'm out $200.00 and have no recourse... shameful seller
I'm pretty sure that the rules are different for pre-orders, and contacting the seller does count. Call and talk to a person. Can you even leave the seller feedback at this point? If you left feedback previously, you can leave a follow-up to it stating your case.
Call ebay or open a case with paypal which I'm assuming you paid with. If you used a CC just do a charge back on that That said preorders should be done or at least the payment for them much closer to release dates to make it easier to deal with things like that.
I hate to hear about this. Those eBay preorders have always made me nervous about something like this happening. Hope you can get it resolved in your favor.
thanks all will try calling Monday, at least they present a phone number on the back of the credit card
Back in May there was a post on here somewhere forewarning people about doing this. I've already seen negative feedback where people were selling the coins they sold back in June. They refunded the original buyer though. I did a pre order from a place recently for one of the ms70 first strikes. Reputable seller, 5 digit feedback. I messaged and they said pcgs should be shipping by the end of November. They offer 30 day returns. If they don't have it before the end I'll ask for a refund. The trouble with doing it months and months in advance is the return policy.
Have you made sure the charge was made against your credit card? Most, not all, wait to charge your card when they ship the item.
yes, paid in full on May 24. Contacted seller on 2 Aug if there were issues, received a reply that there were none. Radio silence after 90 day window.
Seems these days pretty much everything , with a few exceptions is a scam in America. Rip off culture where everyone is only looking out for number one.
If eBay cared, they could reduce the possibility of this happening by simply banning pre sales ads with just the Mint picture. I know this would penalize honest sellers, but that’s what crooks tend to do with the rest of us.
This stuff was put in place by the FTC in 1975 and is commonly known as the 30 day rule, not an Ebay creation but an adoption of the rule as a policy. It sets rules regarding what merchants are supposed to do, and not do. Many businesses sell items presale, in addition even normal items do run out of stock.
Interesting article, sorry couldn’t direct link it. You can also file a complaint with the FTC and they could actually shut down the sellers business.
The Morgan and Peace dollars shouldn't have even qualified for Ebay presales. Per their policy delivery had to be made within 30 days but the coins wouldn't have even been available for over 4 months. Pre-sales shouldn't have been allowed until at least September.
I don’t pre order - never. It’s an invitation get ripped when stuff goes down in aftermarket. I would pursue thru eBay, etc get my money back. Neg him wb 4sure if not get my money back. If he tried give me any bs about pre sales tell him stuff it. You don’t owe them getting run over and ripped. Good luck hope you win your fight with them.
Paypal Charge.............. Update on your case We received the case(s) you filed on 22 November, 2021. We have reviewed this transaction(s) and are denying your case(s). Cases must be filed within 180 days from the date of the transaction. The decision to deny was made because the case was submitted after the 180-day deadline. Therefore, we are unable to offer a resolution toward this matter at this time. We're sorry for any problems you may have experienced with the transaction(s).
You should consider filing a complaint with the FTC. Presales are sleazy. If price goes up, you won’t get the item, if goes down well there’s no guarantees in the hobby. But getting ripped shouldn’t happen.
