My Quarter is Cracked

    I have a 1957 quarter that is cracked. It appears to me that the blank was cracked before the die was struck. I have posted more pictures of this coin in a Flickr PhotoSet and a BlogSpot blog post. Take a look. I welcome any comments or opinions. Leave them here or there. Thanks.[​IMG]

    yes i agree it was a cracked when stamped...i dont think that it will add any value.

    I had a 1949 Franklin Half that looks very similar to your quarter, the crack went inward about 1/4". Sold it for $40. They are collectable...

    A crack on a Franklin is doubly interesting to me considering the liberty bell on the reverse

    Yours is much shinier than mine. Thanks for the correct terminology.
    It is a cracked planchet quarter.

    Yeah, that's the right name a cracked planchet!! Nice!! If you place it on ebay raw, you may want to choose a starting price. just a thought

    Just CAN'T bring myself to say 'nice crack'. BUT, they are cool errors that have been posted!
