Sure hope they are found and returned to their rightful owners.

Thanks for posting this and hopefully by spreading the word it makes it more difficult to unload.

Thanks for the information. I'll certainly be on the lookout.
Do you think the culprit is wise enough to crack the graded coins out so as to eliminate the traceability? Hopefully they're not that smart.

If indeed stolen and not merely lost, I have no doubt the coins have already been separated from their holders. When my coins were stolen in 2009, that was the first thing the pawn dealer instructed the thieves to do. In the 12 years that have passed, that practice has surely become more widespread.

Just today on his blog Gerry Fortin reported that an 1856 $3 gold graded PCGS AU-55 CAC was stolen in route to a customer. He asked anyone attending the Baltimore show to be on the lookout. The serial number on the holder is 32898897.

Doesn't that just make you want to unleash furry on someone so unscrupulous? That pisses me off.

They'll be double checking behind every nook and cranny when that insurance claim comes in. If it was scanned in Indianapolis who knows where it went from there. Nightmare scenario.
It may not be due to malice though either. I've had some adventures with the Indianapolis facility in the past involving overnight stuff. Sometimes a box will get a couple extra plane rides. Indy to Memphis, back to Indy then back to Memphis... I will say though, if they screw up they will deliver on Saturday even if it wasn't supposed to be.

The Boston Brinks bandits didn’t get that much stuff. Why wouldn’t a shipment like that not be sent in at least two packages?

I’m in the market for an 1876 20 cent piece, what do those go for, $50? 75? Kidding aside that’s a pretty amazing collection, I hope it gets home soon.

I'm surprised such a valuable package was shipped FedEx rather than registered mail.
