I find this hard to believe that he would sit down and count out 632 cents and not look at any. http://cgi.ebay.com/lot-of-632-WHEA...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item3ca9cdb6b4
"Yeah...there's definitely 632 wheat cents....yeah.....632 wheat cents. I'm definitely not wearing any underwear....yeah...."
and yet another one. http://cgi.ebay.com/500-Wheat-Cents...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item3359ce79be
At these prices, I should get a 5000 bag of cents from the store I visit $225. That way I can honestly say I did not search them. And sell them on ebay. At 27.88 per 500 that equals 278.80 less cost of coins plus gas. 230.00 ..............less... ebay/ ppal 5.00 .....................................--------- ........................................43.80 profit That is all dependant on consistant sales.
So just how many UNSEARCHED coin stories are there on this internet? I wonder if ANY are actually true. I always get a laugh out of how they know what they are yet claim they didn't look.
To comment to the original post, I bought some proofs from that seller, and they were beautiful--he seems like a good seller. To reply to Just Carl--I know of one coin seller on ebay that does not search his coins. He's a buyer-seller, not a coin person, and he buys wholesale in lots and then sells retail. But that doesn't answer whether the person he bought from searched them, though.
Before the coming rate hike, each 27.88 sale would be charged: Ebay (27.88 x .0875) = 2.44 Paypal (27.88 x .029) + .30 = 1.11 total $3.55 x 10 = $35.50 plus ebay listing fees and packaging costs.
Last year I bought a bag of 2,500 wheat cents from a dealer that were truly unsearched. He described to me how he accumulated them, and I believed his story. Considering some of the better-date coins I found, he would never have sold me those coins at the price I paid if he had known they were in there. Unsearched lots do exist, but only in a very tiny proportion to those that claim to be unsearched.
